Did Anyone ever tell you, Just how special You are? The light that You emit Might even light a star? Did Anyone ever tell You How important You make Others feel? Somebody out there is smiling About Love that is so real? Did Anyone ever tell You Many times, when They were sad, Your blog made Them smile a bit In fact It made them glad? For the time You spend sending things And sharing whatever You find, There are no words to thank You But Somebody thinks You're fine. Did Anyone ever tell You Just how much They love You? Well, My Dearest "Online" Friend, Today I am telling YOU! Have a blessed day, my special blog friend! Jan

-- Jackie Robinson - October 24, 1972 Born January 31, 1919, Jackie was the first African American baseball player in Major League Baseball in 1947. Robinson's debut at first base with the Brooklyn Dodgers on April 15, 1947, in which he batted 0 for 3, was one of the most closely watched events in baseball history, and a profound moment in the history of the U.S. civil rights movement. Robinson was awarded the Rookie of the Year award in 1947, and the Most Valuable Player award for the National League in 1949. He not only contributed to Brooklyn pennants in both years, but his determination and hustle kept the Dodgers in pennant races in 1950 and 1951 when they might otherwise have been eliminated much sooner. Robinson's achievement has been recognized by his uniform number, 42, being retired by all Major League Baseball Teams; the number will never again be given to a player.
