WHO AM I?

http://stb.msn.com/i/BA/BA7AE5534259261ECB32FCEABB4998.jpg

I) --1. I was born on November 30, 1929 in Mount Vernon, New York.

--2. I studied speech at Syracuse University, supplementing
my studies with work at campus radio station WAER.

--3. In 1953 I moved to Philadelphia to host an afternoon radio
show, playing popular vocalists for local teenagers.

--4. By the fall of 1957, my popular TV dance show was picked
up nationally by the ABC network.

--5. Seemingly ageless, I've been dubbed "America's oldest
living teenager" by TV Guide.

Who Am I?

II) Born July 16, 1911
Died April 25, 1995
Dancer, singer, actress. The best-known aspect of her
career is her membership in the most beloved and celebrated
dance team in the history of the American musical cinema--
the
Fred _____/______ combination that was paired in ten
dance musicals. Together, from 1933 to 1939, they made nine
films for RKO, managing to keep the financially unstable studio
afloat for several years. Her first major success as a dramatic
actress was Kitty Foyle, for which she won the 1940 Oscar for
Best Actress. Having thus established herself as a solo per-
former, she continued to pursue an active career in comedy
as well as drama, occasionally returning to the musical format.

Dick Clark. As host of American Bandstand for more than 30
years, Dick Clark introduced rock 'n' roll music via television
to a whole generation of teenaged Americans while reassuring
their parents that the music would not lead their children to
perdition. With his eternally youthful countenance, collegiate
boy-next-door personality, and trademark "salute" at the close
of each telecast, Clark is one of the few veterans of the early
days of television who remains active after nearly half a
century in broadcasting. Clark has also helped found an
American Bandstand Diner restaurant chain. Modeled after the
Hard Rock Cafe and Planet Hollywood chains, each diner was
designed in 1950s style, with photos and music of the greats
Clark helped make famous.

II) Ginger Rogers - Dancer, singer, actress. The best-known
aspect of the Rogers career is her membership in the most be-
loved and celebrated dance team in the history of the American
musical cinema--the Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers combination
that was paired in ten dance musicals. Together, from 1933 to
1939, they made nine films for RKO.

You just don't get O-peration I-raqi L-beration, do

Dear J.B.,

Thanks for writing.

Wouldn't you say that Iraqi Citizens are much better
off today than a year back? You did see all those
mass graves where Saddam & Sons tortured & mutilated
thousands. Did you happen to catch the program on
The History Channel about Saddam & Sons mass

Hi Howdy!

We have a great rivalry in our office and therefore
I seek your permission to copy and substitute UF
and/or FSU in some of your witty and cutting com-
mentaries on the common sense aspects of the
graduates of our hallowed state institutions of higher
learning. We are about equally split between UF
and FSU fans so e-mailing selected bits of wit will
be invaluable to keep the rivalry spicy.

I enjoy and look forward to your “Thought&Humor”

I believe it should be required reading at all state

universities. They need some sensible input to

counter the nest of liberal snakes they call pro-

fessors. Oh! One other comment: "GO DAWGS!!!"

Permission hereby granted to make any change

necessary to continue school rivalries in the
Great State of Florida. It is requested - however -
that articles other than humor be forwarded
occasionally to friends & family and that all
his many friends be offered the opportunity
to subscribe to 'Thought & Humor' at some
future point. With best wishes always...

Howdy,

Boy what a mess! In discussing the Kobe
Bryant matter, the often repeated statement
is: "Adultery -- that's not a crime." Sort of
makes you long to be back in Colonial
times when they forced adulterers to wear
a "Scarlet A." Would look nice on Kobe's
Lakers shirt. Or on Bill Clinton's golf shirt.

Hang in there, Howdy,

Dear Sir or Ms:
As to your questions, I live in ______, Oregon, USA.
I don't forward your Thought and Humor as I copy them
and place them in a 3-ring notebook. Then I take this
notebook to my camping, gold panning, 8-mile roadside
clean-up campaigns followed by a potluck, 3 days, 2
nights, geology tours, fishing, boating, etc., along with
other stories and jokes placed in that notebook. Every-
one seems to enjoy reading my notebook. So thank
you very much for your stories, jokes, etc. and for future
ones. Why don't you publish a book full of your stories
and Jokes? Shouldn't I get a no-prize book if and when
you do this? Ha, Ha!
Sincerely,
Ellen

Howdy, I feel a duty to introduce my friends to “Thought
& Humor”. There are too few opportunities for humor
and uplifting thought available on the internet. However,
I did almost make a serious mistake. The first time I tried
to send you an e-mail, I tried simply to reply to “Thought &
Humor” and got a message from Yahoo. Had I replied to
that e-mail I would have been unsubscribed! That is much
too easy! I do occasionally forward your delightful e-mag
to unenlightened liberal friends and should I ever have a
friend so deranged as to move to the left coast, I would
not want them to escape exposure to the truth so easily

===============

For many years, our family had been going to Ocean City, New Jersey,
for vacations and conferences. It's a three-mile boardwalk, it's great
Atlantic beaches, and it's family atmosphere. Well, those are all things
that we can all get excited about, but something happened over those years
at the beach. The beach shrank. Well, not all at once; a little at a time.
It just got eroded. Eventually, the city fathers had a major challenge on
their hands - to rebuild their bread-and-butter - those beaches that were
slowly disappearing!

Some great places have been really damaged by the slow process of
erosion. So have some great people. That's why you've got to make the
choices that will stop the erosion in your life.

And we've all got a powerful example for that in our word for today
from the Word of God in the Book of Daniel, chapter 1, beginning with verse
5. Daniel is one of a handful of promising Jewish young men who have been
taken to Babylon after King Nebuchadnezzar's invasion of their land. The
king includes them with some of his own Babylonian "first-round draft picks"
in a leadership development program that will ultimately propel them to
greatness in the kingdom.

Everything was fine until the king, "assigned a daily amount of food
and wine from the king's table." This was a special "training table diet"
designed to make them into the best physical specimens possible. But that
kind of food was totally out of bounds for Jews back then, as defined by the
laws of their God. Tough choice here. You're on your way to greatness, and
right here at the beginning you're being asked to compromise a little. At
stake could be your whole future - maybe even your life if you defied the
most powerful man in the world.

But the Bible says, "Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the
royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to
defile himself this way. Now God had caused the official to show favor and
sympathy to Daniel." This official was afraid he might be executed if Daniel
and his Jewish comrades ended up looking worse than the others. So Daniel
persuaded him to allow a ten-day test of an alternate diet of vegetables and
water. Long story short, Daniel and company, the Bible says, "looked
healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal
food," and "the king found none equal to Daniel" and his friends.

Now, God may be asking you to risk everything right now on what
looks like a very expensive faithfulness. It could really cost you to do
what's right, to hold to your convictions, to refuse to compromise your
integrity or your purity. You're risking everything on the faithfulness of
your God. It's tempting to give in to get ahead ... to get that need met ...
to get out of that jam. But with your compromise goes a huge piece of you
and the blessing of Almighty God. Resist that eroding tide.

And remember that God's favor is for God's faithful. You may, like
Daniel, find yourself in different environments, pressured by different
expectations, but you've got to be sure that it's always the same you! You
have to "resolve not to defile yourself" - to build an uncompromising wall
against even the first step that would take you outside the ways of your
God.

In the words of Psalm 4:5, "Offer right sacrifices, and trust in the
Lord." In other words, do what's right - even if it's a sacrifice - and
trust the Lord for what happens after that. His greatest rewards are
reserved for those who will not betray Him, even for another king. Erosion
will take what you cannot afford to lose. Stand against that temptation,
stand against the tide, and let God give you what you could never have any
other way. Ron Hutchcraft

Verse of the Day

* * * Four Important Things To KNOW: #1) For ALL (Americans, Muslims, Jews, Catholics, Hindus, Buddhist, Asians, Presbyterians, Europeans, Baptist, Brazilians, Mormons, Methodist, French, etc.) have sinned & fall short of the glory of God. #2) For the wages of above (see #1) are DEATH (Hell, eternal separation from God, & damnation) but the Gift (free & at no charge to you) of God (Creator, Jehovah, & Trinity) is Eternal Life (Heaven) through (in union with) Jesus Christ (God, Lord, 2nd Person of The Trinity, Messiah, Prince of Peace & Savior of the World). #3) For God so greatly loved & dearly prized the world (Americans, Muslims, Jews, Catholics, Hindus, Buddhist, Asians, Presbyterians, Europeans, Baptist, Brazilians, Mormons, Methodist, French, etc.) that He even gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, that whosoever (anyone, anywhere, anytime - while still living) believes (trust in, relies on, clings to, depends completely on) Him shall have eternal (everlasting) life (heaven). #4) Jesus said: "I am THE WAY, THE TRUTH, & THE LIFE. No one (male/female - American, Muslim, Jew, Catholic, Hindu, Buddhist, Asian, Presbyterian, European, Baptist, Brazilian, Mormons, Methodist, French, etc. ) comes (arrives) to the Father (with GOD in Heaven) EXCEPT BY (through) ME (no other name). *** This wonderful loving GOD gives you the choice - - - (Rev. 3:20) {Please note that church membership, baptism, doing good things, etc. are not requirements for becoming a Christian - however they are great afterwards!!!} *** Jesus said, "Wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction (Hell, damnation, eternal punishment), and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life (Heaven, eternal happiness, forever with God), and only a few find it.

P U R P O S E
But these are written so that you may
believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the
Son of God, and that by believing in
Him you will have life. Jn 20:31

Seek the Lord while He may be found;
call on Him while He is near. Let the
wicked forsake his way and the evil
man his thoughts. Let him turn to the
Lord, and He will have mercy on him,
and to our God, for He will freely
pardon. "For My thoughts are not
your thoughts, neither are your ways
My ways," declares the Lord. "As the
heavens are higher than the earth, so
are My ways higher than your ways
and My thoughts than your thoughts.
As the rain and the snow come down
from heaven, and do not return to it
without watering the earth and making
it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed
for the sower and bread for the eater,
so is My word that goes out from My
mouth: It will not return to Me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire and
achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
You will go out in joy and be led forth
in peace; the mountains and hills will
burst into song before you, and all the
trees of the field will clap their hands.
Instead of the thornbush will grow the
pine tree, and instead of briers the myrtle
will grow. This will be for the Lord's
renown, for an everlasting sign, which
will not be destroyed." Is 55

O Lord, you have searched me and you
know me. You know when I sit and when
I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying
down; you are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue you know
it completely, O Lord. You hem me in -
behind and before; you have laid your
hand upon me. Such knowledge is too
wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.

Where can I go from your Spirit? Where
can I flee from your presence? If I go up
to the heavens, you are there; if I make
my bed in the depths, you are there.

If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.

If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide
me and the light become night around
me," even the darkness will not be dark
to you; the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you. For you
created my inmost being; you knit me
together in my mother's womb. I praise
you because I am fearfully and wonderfully
made; your works are wonderful, I know
that full well. My frame was not hidden
from you when I was made in the secret
place. When I was woven together in the
depths of the earth, your eyes saw my
unformed body. All the days ordained
for me were written in your book before
one of them came to be.

How precious to me are your thoughts,
O God! How vast is the sum of them!
Were I to count them, they would
outnumber the grains of sand. When
I awake, I am still with you. Search me,
O God, and know my heart; test me
and know my anxious thoughts. See
if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
Ps 139

But indeed for this purpose I have raised you up,
that I may show My power in you, and that My
Name may be declared in all the earth. Ex 9:16

When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of Glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.

Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small:
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.
