Actors Tom Cruise, John Travolta, and Jenna Elfman have made Scientology a popular religious belief. Scientologists believe that humans are spiritual beings and basically good. In simple terms, it's a self-help set of religious beliefs.
They believe there are eight channels to achieving eternal life. They also believe your mind keeps track of all your past lives - including good, bad, and problems your weren't even aware you had. These repressed memories are viewed as engrams - spiritual blockages. The people who can help you find and understand these memories are called auditors.
They believe, once you're rid of these blockages, you'll be more fulfilled.
Jesus is seen as only one of many good teachers. Your main goal in life is to understand yourself and others and to make the world a nicer place to live.
Christian Science is an entirely different religious belief than Scientology. It was founded in 1879 by Mary Baker Eddy, who claimed she was healed while reading Scripture. Actor Val Kilmer is a Christian Scientist. This group believes that people can't sin, Jesus wasn't God, and you become saved by believing sin doesn't exist. God isn't personal, but he's present in all things. God is all, and all is God. Heaven and hell aren't actual physical places' they're only an aspect of one's mental state. Christian Scientists don't believe in seeking a physician's help when ill.

As a schoolboy in Vincennes, Indiana, one of Red Skelton's teachers explained the words and meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance to his class. Skelton later wrote down, and eventually recorded, his recollection of this lecture to which you are now listening. It is followed by observations of his own. Dear Howdy, Indeed I am a faithful Tarheel*, having both MA and Ph.D. from their fine chemistry department. But that doesn't keep me from getting a great kick out of the humor propogated by what appears to me to be a pack of wolves!!**
SERIOUSLY, THE HUMOR IS GREAT FUN BUT MY MAIN ATTRACTION WAS TO THE CONSERVATIVE MORAL AND POLITICAL STANCE THAT SEEMED TO CHARACTERIZE THE FIRST ISSUE I SAW. INCIDENTALLY (HE SAYS ACCIDENTALLY!), it was sent to me by a friend, so I really didn't "hear about you" at all, and still haven't. All I know is what has come in the two issues of the Newsletter I have seen. The best to you. S. P.
Hey Dr. Howdy: Last time I checked, I don't think you had comments turned on. Or maybe that was someone else...Thanks for adding me to your list. The humor helps and was a total pick me up from how I have been feeling. God Bless and take care.
